Thanks Lesley...I can see why you didn't understand my question. It didn't happen to you because you made your betweens larger! I looked at the software this morning. the top narrow border calls for 64.5 (finished) x .25 finished. The sides call for 65 (finished) x .25 (finished). I guess they think that since the tri borders are all the same size...that you can just stretch it that extra 1/2"??? I'm not worried about the kites fitting...they will (or should)..its the 2 of the entire tri borders.

Each pic you provide of your quilt makes me love it more...and Sweetie looks great sitting there all busy like that! What quilt are you doing? Its a beauty!!

I experienced something similar when I was putting the tri borders on. Wanted the point of the between tris to be in the center of each sashing. I think it would have fit without that 1/4" outside sashing strip. I ended up having to stretch each border just a tiny bit (1/2" over the entire length) & it's not noticible on the finished top - didn't scrunch it all up. Amazing what a fully loaded (with water) steam iron can do to fudge in something! Goes to show how easy it is to mess up something with an iron.

Thats what I was thinking Kathy. When I just laid out the sewn together border next to the center...it looks like a perfect fit. I 'm pretty sure that I'll be stretching when it comes to those 2 sides that need to be 1/2" longer  Sounds like it will work though.

If all the blocks are square, and all the sashing is the same, then the software must be off! Stands to reason. Mind you, I haven't ever come across an EQ design that has incorrect measurements, but there is always a first time, I suppose. - can't you just cut that little border the extra half an inch longer? Surely then you wouldn't have to stretch it.

I love it that there are several of you all hovering near the end now - well done everyone. I am dying to see them all done. I think we will have to award ourselves a little Gallery of finished Janes - what do you all think?

I started quilting my Convergence Quilt (I think it's a Ricky Tims design?) that I made before I started Jane. I only began to quilt it yesterday morning, and I have done about 2/3rds of it so far - not bad eh? I am doing some variations of feather designs in 'rounds' on it, (except that they are squares, if you know what I mean). I tried taking some pics, but they didn't come out at all well. I'll have another go at that tomorrow.

Lesley, I think I am confusing you even more. The boders that will be short are 2 of the Pieced tri/Plain tri border. They make no allowance for the addition of the skinny border. No matter...it will work.

Today I got the narrow skinny outer sashing border sewn on and another tri border stitched together. Do ya'll think I should do the trapunto work PRIOR to sewing the border to the quilt or sew it to the quilt first???

Well, I give up on why there might be a difference in tri border sizes - I still can't see why.

As for when to quilt your trapunto, I would go before every time, otherwise you will have to be womanhandling the whole thing under your machine - do you really want to do that?

For some reason I haven't been getting the new posts in my email. But I am back now :0)! I broke down and ordered the DJ software about a week ago. Should get it today I hope. It's taken awhile with the bad weather and then yesterday it was MLK Day...no mail. Laceylady and Sandpat your quilts are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Thanks so much for posting your pics!

I know...I just can't explain it Lesley. Anyway, I am going to try a trapunto design today. The only thing I am worried about is how much it might "drawn up" (shrink) the long border. I guess that I could always add a little cheater piece on the end if that happens or add a teeny bit larger tri at the ends to make it work better if it draws up too much to fit properly. I'll give it a try today to see.

Good for you Blinky! I think you will like playing with the software, not to mention how helpful it will be in making the quilt!

All I can say is I am not going to worry about a 1/2" difference! I can force fit and smooth with my trusty iron/steam!!

Speaking of my iron, I noticed the little holes have water deposits in them! Yuk, time for a new one, before it transfers a surprise on my fabric!
